Marissa Colclasure has been awarded the second WAI Martha R. King Scholarship for Female Flight Instructors.
The Martha R. King Scholarship was donated by Martha King who, along with her husband John King, created King Schools in 1974. Martha says “We have supported the WAI since they first started their organization. I hope that this inspires others to also step up and support the goals of the WAI. They are vital in inspiring and supporting women who are looking for education and careers in the aviation industry.”

Scholarship winner Marissa Colclasure is from Floyds Knobs, Indiana. She is a mother of 3, a private, instrument and multiengine instructor. She plans to use her award to become a seaplane instructor.
The Women in Aviation International scholarship program started in 1995 and their mission has been “Fulfilling Hopes, Dreams and Type Ratings”. The program awarded its 1,000th scholarship in 2013 and in 2016 the total value of scholarships awarded exceeded $10,000,000.
