For Immediate Release July 25, 2024, AirVenture Oshkosh WI.

Flight examiners have noted that an increasing number of applicants come to their flight test inadequately prepared because they have relied on free content from the Internet that is not trustworthy. Examiners suggest that learning pilots would be wise to develop a sound strategy for obtaining free aviation educational material from the internet.

New free courses from King Schools may answer that need. Pilots have been learning about aviation from King Schools, and passing their exams, for more than 50 years. Recently, access to King’s free courses and the King Schools YouTube channel has provided many pilots with the knowledge they need without hitting the pocketbook. In fact, King Schools now offers 18 courses for free at KingSchools.com/free-pilot-courses, and almost 200 videos on YouTube. Today, they added three more free learning opportunities.

There are two new free courses, Drone Part 107 Regulations and Private Pilot Ground Reference Maneuvers and a new YouTube playlist titled, How To Become a Pilot.

Barry Knuttila, King Schools’ CEO and co-owner, said, “Like all of King Schools’ content, the videos are masterfully crafted and meticulously fact-checked, and contain material that simplifies, clarifies and makes it fun to learn important concepts. “

John talks about all of the regulations with operating a drone safely and legally.

Drone Part 107 Regulations comprises eight videos and is presented by John and Martha King. The course lays out the rules on how to fly a drone commercially in clear and easy to understand terms.  “It’s critically important that drone pilots, just like all pilots, know what is legal and what is not, and how to fly safely,” said Martha King. “A savvy pilot is a safe pilot. And a savvy pilot, of any aircraft, is always learning.” Additional course information and free registration is available at KingSchools.com/drone-regulations. If you like the content, you can also purchase the full Part 107 Drone Ground School & Test Prep course at KingSchools.com/drone-pilot-training.

The second new free course is Private Pilot Ground Reference Maneuvers. This course is taken from the King’s complete Private Pilot Maneuvers course and prepares a student pilot for their flight lessons by showing how to nail Turns Around a Point, Rectangular Patterns and S-Turns Across a Road to FAA checkride standards.

King Schools CEO instructs in this new, free course.

Barry Knuttila, the course’s video instructor, said, “Ground reference maneuvers can be a source of a frustration for student pilots.  We show tips and tricks you can use to deal with wind to fly good patterns over the ground. This skill is best first understood on the ground. Watching these video will save time and frustration in the air, while impressing your flight instructor with what you know.”

King Schools has also posted a new YouTube playlist, How To Become a Pilot. The videos are designed to clear up confusion and give people who are considering learning to fly a path to success. The videos break down the sometimes-complicated process into 12 short, easily understandable and digestible parts. The first installment explains what a medical is, why it’s important, and how to get one. Part two outlines where one can learn to fly, while part three is about what you need to do to find an instructor that suits your learning style.

The series is narrated by Samuel Golden, King Schools’ digital marketing manager, who also holds a commercial pilot certificate and was one of National Business Aviation Association’s “Top 40 under 40” award recipients in 2023.

Golden said, “My goal is that learners will feel inspired to go after their dreams.”

The recently released courses and videos have already been viewed thousands of times, a testament to the continued popularity of King Schools’ curriculum, and the personalities in front of the camera.

“King Schools has led the pilot training video industry for over 50 years,” added Barry Knuttila. “It’s not easy to produce top-quality educational videos, but experience helps and King Schools continues to leverage knowledge and technology to serve pilots with our motto of Clarify, Simplify and Make it Fun. And, of course, learners of all ages love John and Martha. Trying our free courses is a great way to get introduced to King Schools and to find out why we are looking forward to the next 50 years.”
